Excellent work for what it is a sort of close reading exercise with a mix of polemic of institutional documents regarding racial equity Very well written and moves smoothly from point to informative point, unlike Strange Encounters by the same author which was unnecessarily repetitive and in some parts very redundant Extremely useful read for anyone vaguely interested in the rhetorics of diversity, and urgently necessary for those who are NOT interested, though of course, that s the problem Excellent work for what it is a sort of close reading exercise with a mix of polemic of institutional documents regarding racial equity Very well written and moves smoothly from point to informative point, unlike Strange Encounters by the same author which was unnecessarily repetitive and in some parts very redundant Extremely useful read for anyone vaguely interested in the rhetorics of diversity, and urgently necessary for those who are NOT interested, though of course, that s the problem isn t it I m no...

3.5 starsThere s some really good content here, buried under academic writing Hedging, pronominal phrases, excess passive voice all combine to make this harder to read than it needs to be the commitment of committees to make commitments section was especially tortuous.

Ugh, big hearts for Dr Ahmed A very interesting and rigorous analysis of interviews with diversity administrators in higher education Her conclusions are thought provoking and have pushed my thinking on how to do equity work in and on institutions.
